Show All 15 Reviews- My copy was perfect, bought from a reputable dealer in the UK at a good price. Perfectly flat, silent background. Beautiful pressing and just such a stunning record, these two are amongst my all time favorites and then you go and put them together for just monumental recordings that are so timeless. Wonderful, thank you Chad, keep doing the good stuff!
- My copy is slightly warped, nothing inacceptable but that’s a bit disappointing, considering theses reissues are getting (very) expensive here in France. Also, the noise floor is quite noticeable and there are some annoying tics and pops throughout. I didn’t clean it for the moment, hope it’ll improve things a bit, because the music and mastering are superb !
- This is my first ever pressing of this record in fact I hadn't heard it before this. I have quite a bit of Ella records but never really took to Louis. Well that changed with this release. What a marvelous pairing and they really play off each other well. I loved every tune. Louis in particular has incredible presence and the whole affair is just a joy. Really superb Verve sound, and though I don't have others to compare to, I could highly recommend this pressing, which was just about perfect.
- What a delight this record is! Ella & Louis really sound as though they are standing next to each other singing just like the photograph on the inside of the gatefold cover. The vocals are brought very much to the forefront on this recording and there is an incredible amount of clarity here right down to background noises and in particular Armstrong’s vocals are really an “in the room” experience.
A great selection of songs which suit the duet format very well and the band supports the singers tastefully and with a nice swinging style.
As with all the other records I’ve bought from this series, the vinyl is near perfectly pressed and free of any major blemishes. Highly recommended If this era of vocal jazz is your kind of thing. - Flat, silent, and beautifully mastered. I have yet to get one of these AS Series reissues that doesn't sound incredible. The best bang for your buck in audiophile jazz, maybe ever.
- My copy sounds wonderful, but I'm really tired of filing down the spindle holes from AS releases before I can get them on my turntable.
