Poem on the back side of the cover:

This is the looking-glass of death. I am your guide, your lamentor, your hand.
We are generations of voices weaving melodies of grief with dark yarn.
Like those who weave the future, I weave the past - full of memories, over orchards of
grievance, sorrow and fear, tenderness and song.

In the darkness there is a glimmering golden thread. Take my hand and I will
help you find it. Small and large fit between my fingers. I will sing for you now:

Laula laula, I have mourned the dead.
I have wept for the world, for sky and soil, for yours and for mine.
I sing for those who do not wish to be sung, for those who need comfort.
For the sisters and the scarabs, for the unjustly dead and those who lived fully.
For the fiddlers and the drunks. For the infidels and for those who are kind at heart.

For the forests and villages no-one remembers.
For the assembly halls and the grandmothers, the brothers, the unborn and the unlived.

Living is a glimpse of light surrounded by darkness. Being born is waiting for death.
To be in music is to practice living again and again. Slowly we sing ourselves to eternal rest.

Funeral Folk was originally composed for the dance performance Funeral by Mattias Lech & Lisen Ellard.

A stunning piece of art, both from outside and inside; full of exquisite details and nuances blown up by powerful crescendos. It moves between the progressive folk and minimalist classical, to the religious music and black metal.

This one is in constant rotation these days at home.
