The repress has been listed here, but this pressing only has two tracks on side D, eh? That's odd, maybe they dot have the licence to repress the Arthur Russell track...https://www.discogs.com/Walter-Gibbons-Jungle-Music-Mixed-With-Love-Essential-Unreleased-Remixes-1976-1986/release/10939019

Just repressed!!! This is worth having for Gladys Knight and Arts & Craft tracks alone.

Great tribute to Walter Gibbons. He was THE innovator of DJing, remixing and editing in the 1970s. NO music technician is more responsible for pushing disco in the direction of house than Walter Gibbons. He completely re-thought what a dance music record could or should be. To get a better idea of this, compare Tom Moulton's remixes with his and you'll see what I'm talking about. A major reason for this was that Moulton quickly became part of the dance music establishment and had no interest in pushing the envelope, whereas Gibbons was always pushing the envelope. Levan and Tee Scott took their remixing lead from Gibbons, and Ron Hardy always chose the Gibbons mix over others (to me, Hardy was an heir to this tradition of innovation).

This compilation is a great testament to Gibbons' capacity for innovation and his artistic range. Acetate recordings are de facto horrible so just be ready for that, but the cut of It's a Better than Good Time is an fantastic 12-minute journey and impossible to find (for anything less than a small fortune, anyway). Other rarities await, and even the ones you already have are nice to have doubles of, especially the Jakki track, so you can smooth out the drafty edits Gibbons made (Lawrence makes a good case for why Gibbons should be credited). A winner and worth every penny to track down.

i was looking forward to this release very much, but it is very disappointing for me that the LP version contains only 9 of 14 tracks. The CD version contains 14 tracks and i don't understand why Strut didn't press the missing 5 tunes on the wax or simply added a 3rd vinyl. Anyway, the release is very good and worth to buy specially of the killer -Arts & Craft - I've Been Searching- tune,
which is very hard to find.
