Notes
from the Vlora region of Albania, recorded at the Gjirokastra Folk Festival, 1988 and the first track on T33.11 There Where The Avalanche Stops. With thanks to Spiro Shituni at the Institute of Popular Culture, Tirana, and to Liam McDowall.
A flight back from Tokyo in 1990 on ANA 201: one of the passengers alerted the cabin staff that a man was on the aircraft brandishing a toy gun. An hour later, on the flight deck and over Siberia, this recording was taken direct from the pilot's ATC receiver.
written and produced for the Alphaphone series: from Tone 6 Step Write Run.
Made for Touch Language, a short piece for answering machine, played back and forth over the phone between Amsterdam and London in January 1988.
Also previously unreleased, a new composition: cf TO:26 Loopholes.
March the 9th, 1948, New Brunswick, Canada, time 08.23. Alfie, the controller, has less than 30 minutes in which to prevent Wesley's runaway train from derailment into a built-up area. The drama unfolds and the protagonists perform like male leads in a Hollywood film. The full version can be heard on Ash 1.9 and was passed to us by Brian Damage and Robin Rimbaud: thanks to them.
Much ahead of its time, a 23 minute track recorded for opening of the Haçienda in Manchester in 1982, and a blueprint for 'Blue Monday': it was published in 2 parts on the first Touch release, Feature Mist. This is the missing middle section.
Recorded in Peliatan in June 1983, the genggong is "The original sound of Bali", a strip of palm wood, about 30x2cm, with two strands carved out of it as the mouthpiece. It is not easy to play "frog sound"; Mr. Togog said modestly that he was getting too old for it, and after three demonstrations, he asked his son to helm him along. (cf T33.2 Islands In-between).
From TO:31. MVH appears courtesy of R&S Records.
 From TO:30 +/-.
recorded after TO:10 Open In Obscurity in 1987 for Touch Language.
 From TO:29 Beauty Nowhere.
Short wave radio manipulation from TO:20 Send.
Recorded using a Lafayette HA800 receiver, Datong VLF converter and 100' random antenna. From Ash 2.9 R&D.
Again recorded for Touch Language, released at last...
Dry tropical forest, Costa Rica, 0615h 9th April 1995. Previously unreleased.
Kenya, 0210h 1st March 1996. Previously unreleased, cf TO:27 Stepping into the Dark.
 From T33.7 Narodna.
