"Subterranean Modern was Ralph Records' first album involving music from anyone other than The Residents or Snakefinger. The idea was to widen Ralph's appeal by bringing a greater variety of styles into the label. To this end Ralph had four band submit contributions on the theme of "San Francisco". Each was required to include a version of Tony Bennett's I Left My Heart In San Francisco. The four bands chosen were The Residents (of course), Chrome, Tuxedomoon, and MX-80 Sound..." Reviews
- One of those records that you can look back and say were pivotal in your musical development...found it as a wide-eyed boy looking for something 'different'; remain a fan of all 4 bands to this day and even have Chrome and Residents tattoos.
Thank you Ralph, for the introductions. - I own this original 1979 version and mine also came with an insert for the W.E.I.R.D. official Residents Fan Club. $5 to join! Join or die...is what it says.
