Great KPG master as always. Touch of hair on the top of the vocal, which is not uncommon for vocal jazz of this era. A non-GZ press would likely improve that. Vinyl, as others have said, is not particularly quiet. Not awful, but your typical GZ ticks n clicks throughout. My copy is far from flat. It's a great record that I'm happy to own a physical copy of, just suffers from the GZ pressing treatment. Let's hope VMP can improve upon this with their pressing plant.

The 2019 version of this had a lot of comments on the sleeve cover image being pixelated. Can anyone confirm if it is better on this press?

I am reviewing the 2022 repress. This is by no means silent vinyl, so buyer beware. The voice is beautifully recorded. Piano and guitar sound pretty good. Percussion is a bit recessed, bass a little muddy for my taste. Sound stage is fairly narrow but well-defined. Quiet, tasteful jazz vocals. There is a playful, sexy quality to the voice that is nonetheless understated. Overall, on first listen, I enjoyed this, but I did not fall in love with it.

Blind buy for me based on the praise. It certainly lived up to the hype. What a record and the pressing is dead silent and noise free.

Not as flawless sounding as the original release from VMP Classics' reviews made me believe this would be.

It sure sounds amazing. Deep bass, very detailed and clear voice, piano and drums passing through wonderfully. But there is quite more surface noise than I had imagined it would have. Nothing so detracting as to give this a below mediocre score, it's just there, clicks clearly present on A1, A2, some louder pops on A3; on A5 you can easily notice the underlying noise; A7 had more clicks and pops than the others (including a "tchic" noise starting near the end). B1 starts crackly, but apart from that, the clicks are mostly harmless.

What gets me the most is repeated noise, so I can get by on that instance since it's pretty spread out, rarely confronting the songs themselves and somewhat a tradeoff to the constant underlying hiss on the digital mastering (Tidal Master) I usually listen to.

                ★★★½

New Obi for this 2022 repress. Still includes booklet. My inner sleeve sticks out about a quarter inch for some reason. Image quality is a little blurry on the album art too, but sounds great.

This was a blind buy for me, I actually enjoyed this album. Excellent pressing with little to no surface noise. Packaging presentation was nice as well.
