Man I don’t know what the issue with everyone else is but mine sounds great! I ran an anti static brush on each side before playing and that’s about it. no problems besides one of the records had a stringy strand of vinyl hanging off the edge which was a bit weird but came off easily and did not affect playback. I wouldnt and didn’t spend $50 but if you can find it cheap i would recommend picking it up.

Like many other I had to get a replacement copy, as the first one had bad distortion on multiple tracks that made it pretty much unlistenable. Second copy received is dish-warped, but sounds better. I’ve decided to deal with the slight warping with better sound quality than roll the dice on a third copy. From what I’ve gathered from most of these comments, this is probably as good as it’s going to get. Fantastic album, from a fantastic artist, whose work deserves better representation than this pressing.

This record was absolutely filthy when I opened it. Brand new and still sealed, and yet covered in some sort of grime, dust, paper. Trim and extra plastic I had to shave off the sides. Can we fucking cut it out with these bullshit cardboard inserts on LPs please? I had to spend over an hour cleaning this damn thing. And why the hell is this not a gatefold? This is the GOAT's final album on TDE and you're gonna skimp out? This thing costs so damn much too, if you're gonna charge 40 dollars for a product it better be quality.

Thankfully, unlike some of the other reviews, upon cleaning my copy everything was fine. Quiet, no pops, clicks, crackles, skips, issues. Thing sounds good, and no amount of effort cleaning up an LP is gonna make this not a flawless masterpiece. If you've listened to Kendrick before, you know what to expect; great bars about important shit that rocks you to your core with instrumentals and vibes completely different from his other albums. Each one is unique in their tone and themes, and this one deals with trauma, sexuality, identity, sexual assault, toxic masculinity, just a bunch of stuff I never expected to hear from a mainstream rap record. I still think To Pimp A Butterfly is just better, but I think this one is next in line on my list. Great from start to finish, somehow this man cannot miss even if he tried. Just an okay pressing though, very disappointing on that front. 5/5 rating is for the album itself, the pressing would probably be a 3/5, 4/5 if you can clean it up with no issues. If you're big into Kendrick like me and want all his albums on vinyl it's a no brainer, but if preservation/archival isn't in your cards, maybe just buy the CD or stream this one.

I'm surprised by the negative comments, my copy sounds great, the sound is powerful and very dynamic. No skipping issues whatsoever, maybe a slight surface noise on some calmer tracks, but nothing dramatic. I also have the "Made in France" pressing.

Either I got lucky, or some people should clean their records/get a better turntable before listening.

Very happy to finally have one of my favorite Kendrick albums on wax !

Got the « Made in France » version of this. Disc 2 is unlistenable, label off set on Side C and missing on D… Chips on the edge. Paid almost 50$USD, now have to
mail it back to the store for refund… so disapointed of the lack of QC on latest and big hyped release of new records… Such a shame!

Yoooo for $45-$50 they could've at least made it a gatefold sleeve and include a DL code. But at least it GOT a release on vinyl and CD. So many major label rap albums are just digital releases nowadays, even heavy hitters like Drake and Gucci Mane. With all the completely pointless represses of dollar bin titles coming out on a weekly basis (Loverboy, Dire Straits, etc) you'd think the major labels would at least do one pressing of their top hip-hop releases.

Everyone seems to be very generous with their reviews despite this being pretty much a trash budget pressing, rife with noise & distracting pops. Issues at the beginning of each side, both records, & as others mentioned, Silent Hill and Rich Spirit are obnoxiously bad. It skips throughout the chorus on Rich Spirit even after cleaning (plus in my frustration I rebalanced my tone arm, adjusted tracking force, to no avail- I’ve never had this many problems on a brand new record. I am using an M44-7 cart on a sl-1200mk2). Add the disappointing cheap sleeve & printed inners- in my opinion, it’s not worth even half of what it’s been retailing for.. Excellent music but unfortunately this pressing is a missed opportunity & total waste of money. Hopefully they do a better job on quality control with future reissues because this album deserves a proper listenable vinyl release.

The vinyl market (or just the labels -we the buyers are to blame too) has created a distorted profitable reality. It doesn't matter if Lamar's album is good or not (which is quite good i believe), the thing is that there's a starting price of 30 euros in the USA (in discogs), while in mainland Europe, again in discogs, the cheapest copy costs 40 euros//

I have the Made in Mexico 180 g black version from a local record. In general sounds really good. There are lots of pops on Rich Spirit as I've seen others complain of. Unfortunately that's one of my favorites. Otherwise very few other pops. Also needs to be turned up a bit more than typical but when that's done it really fills out with great dynamics and bass. Typical great mastering by Chris Bellman. The packaging is just cheap and should be better for the price. Primarily got this to complete my collection. 4/5
