Reviews
- Fantastic album! This album is almost as good as demon days, with classics like “rhinestone eyes”, “on melancholy hill” and “empire ants”. Theres only one song on this album i truly dislike, which is sweepstakes, as i thought it was a little weird. This pressing is also really good, the music sounds great! This release is so good, its a gatefold, so when you open it up you get LOVELY artwork by Jamie Hewlett and The Zombie Flesh Eaters As Well As A Track Listing. When you get the inner sleeves out though, wow, they are great, the inner sleeves have MORE FANTASTIC ART by Jamie Hewlett and The Zombie Flesh Eaters. This release is fantastic.
Album quality: 8/10
Audio quality: 9/10
Release quality: 10/10 - great album, unfortunately my copy came somewhat warped and has multiple skips throughout the album even after cleaning the vinyl.
- Overall good.... side C is a little off centre but i think its inaudible at least it is to me. There are a couple of songs that are a little sibilant here and there, Snoops voice on the opener for example but apart from this it sounds really good. The discs are flat and quiet. Its good and for the £18 i got mine im happy but in reality my £4 CD copy is arguably the better listen
- This is the very first vinyl record that I got. When I bought this at my local record store, they also had Song machine along with this. I chose this over Song machine because why not. This album is just as good as Demon days was, with songs like Rhinestone eyes, Empire ants and Glitter freeze showcasing the band's chaotic(??) side, and songs like Superfast jellyfish, On melancholy hill, Broken, Plastic beach and To binge that showcase the band's relaxed side. Like their self titled debut album, this album perfectly showcases the band's two sides which compliment each other perfectly. Amazing. I give this album a solid 10/10.
- Great album, Great pressing. Only problem are the paper sleeves... they're paper which means your records will most likely hate them. Nice to hang on your wall though. Get yourself some inner sleeves.
- Edited 6 years agoThere are a few duds in this print so you guys are aware. my first copy was scratched up from the factory and sounded like absolute garbage. Bought a second copy today and it is 1000 times better. Easily the best sounding record in my collection. Both were bought in the same Barnes and Noble about a year apart.
So definitely go for it it is worth the gamble, but be warned you might have to exchange for a new one. - Easily one the best sounding records in my collection. Has really been growing me over the years and I might even be comfortable saying that Plastic Beach is on par with Demon Days. It's basically a perfect album.
- Purchased a copy of this record yesterday, and have just noticed that the Matrix/Runout on my copy is slightly different (BB28469-01 A5 instead of A1). Change is minuscule, however should it be treated as a separate release?
- Edited 7 years agoGorillaz might only put out an official release once in a blue moon, but they are sure to do it right. Outstanding work was done on this product to create a sublime pressing and mastering. Quality packaging with joyful artwork. Even the little touches such as the images on the label are great. Put a plastic sleeve in the inner sleeves and you are set with a perfect item for your collection. No real complaints, buy it if you haven't!
