Classic. The level of darkness and power is comparable to "Dig Your Own Hole" by The Chemical Brothers.
The whole "Roll The Rice" tune, especially its intro, never stops giving me goosebumps since my playing days of "NFS IV : High Stakes". The inclusion of "Leave You Far Behind" in the "Matrix" soundtrack is also part of my dedication to big beat music.

If most of the album focuses on very industrial breakbeat, some songs features a slower tempo, namely "Neon Ray", "Long Shadows" and "Meltdown".
"Neon Ray" is an absolute thing of beauty with its trip-hop rhythm, its soothing vocals and these low-pitched electronic loops that sound a bit like accelerated boiling water noises.
"It Evolves On Its Own" doesn't get much credit as "Leave You Far Behind" or "The Sound", but its catchy big beat style has nothing to envy of them. Moreover, its funky guitars make it sound really addictive.
"Choke" sounds very futuristic and chemical. It could be a cool soundtrack in a movie scene featuring people walking in the underground tunnels of a power plant.
"Long Shadows" almost made it to ambient. I'm in love with the transition around the third minute mark.
"Punkywhitenoisething", on the contrary, accelerates the tempo with a drum and bass production. It could have been a great addition to a video game OST.

However, the reason why I removed one star sums up in one word : "Meltdown". I've never been hooked on this track as much as the rest of the CD. The beats are nice, but I find it a bit too long and the guitar sounds are not to my liking.

The popularity of this LP is well deserved, especially thanks to "Leave You Far Behind". This explosive choon is featured in numerous cult releases such as "Mortal Kombat Annihilation", "La Femme Nikita" and "Charlie's Angels" in its "V2 Instrumental" version.
This and "The Sound" are also part of the fake Prodigy album called "The Castbreeder", mainly composed of Junkie XL tunes from his "Saturday Teenage Kick" killer album.

If you wanna go running or you just need to let off steam, just burn your speakers or your headphones with this.

An industrial mix of Big Beat where The Prodigy left off and where bands like Pitchshifter later picked it up. Again they seemed to succeed less based on album recognition and more on soundtrack cameos (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, The Matrix: Music From the Motion Picture, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life). Very good but not great. Definitely unique.

i wonder which morons give for this album less than 5 stars. you should clean your ears from hit-parade music.

...and I say the idea behind this project was really innovating
but the result I think is not for everybody´s ears.
In my opinion too much of the below- mentioned trashing drum lines in every song.
Neon ray is the absolute highlight for me on this album, it has a hypnotic sound
you can´t escape. Choke is also really good, the rest is innovating but maybe a bit
          overpowered.

Lunatic Calm creates a melodik hypnotik soundscape of meloncoly sounds and thrashing drum lines. Wicked synth lines & beats till you heart's content. There's not a single track on this CD that you can't dig. Ok, maybe you've heard "Leave You Far Behind" one to many times, but that doesn't make it a bad track. The intro is quite pointless, but that doesn't take away from the quality of this CD 5 STARS I say, awesome production.
