First review on Discogs. And first Tone Poet series purchase. I know Trane’s music like the back of my hand and as a saxophonist have transcribed most of his solos on this album. But I’m brand new to vinyl this year. I found the first record had a fair amount of surface noise (I believe that’s the term?). Background hiss I’ve never heard on my multiple CD copies of this album and ride cymbal didn’t sound great to me. Then I listened to the second record. Side C, Moment’s Notice take 4… inexplicably skips from the second time through the melody on the head in, to the middle of Curtis Fuller’s solo. At first I thought I was imagining it, but no. It’s obviously a production flaw. Will be returning. Hoping my second copy is worthy of the praise in all these reviews. The packaging is admittedly gorgeous, I’ll give it that.

It’s an insanely great musical experience. I’m not a jazz guy - I own good pressings of the core jazz albums, but I’m a hard rock/metal guy. But this pressing is unreal. The dynamics Gray pulled out of this are magnificent. Dead quiet vinyl, crystal clear recording and mixing. Just beautiful.

Purchased end of 2022 and aside from a few initial listening I am just circling around to a focused listening again this a.m. I'd forgotten just how good a pressing this is. Without going 45rpm, and if you don't have this, this is "The One" to get if your not trying for an OG, IMHO. Beautiful in every aspect!

        Enjoy the music!

All I can say is "Wow". Simply outstanding.
Perfect pressing and sound quality is superb.
You swear you're in the studio with John and the band.
I can't believe they could record that well back then.
One of the best purchases I have made in a while.
BTW, I Love the second LP. It's awesome to see how songs progress to what what finally selected for the album.
          Great job Blue Note!

M first copy came pretty beat up (damaged cover and noisy records), but the replacement is spot on. Typical RTI dead quiet vinyl and absolutely gorgeous sound. Couldn't be happier!

Does anyone else think that the highs are a little too high on this one, especially the opening track. The cymbals sound a bit harsh to these ears.

On the whole though, I'd recommend this release.

This pressing is surreally good. Might sound even better than either KOB UHQRs.

My first copy had last minute of B side totally destroyed (right channel with just noise). My second copy has a few pops on the same place which is fine to me.
Sounds really good. The packaging and the booklet is beautiful.

First copy of this amazing album and I'm impressed. Blue Train starts off slow and quiet, but then explodes and is larger than life. I have a HD Tracks copy of this album and I prefer the vinyl. No noise, pops, or cracks.
