Reviews
- Thanks Cunha – this stupidly took me ages to figure out. Head over Heels IS included in the box set TWICE due to a weird format thing. That is a total of FIVE pieces of vinyl in the box: 1.) Garlands 2.) Head over Heels 3.) Treasure + 4 / 5.) Head over Heels double album with EP of Sugar Hiccup: Sunburst and Snowblind.
Just to make it clear for others:
Barcode (on VIN180LP024): 5 038622 123215 – for the actual box.
Barcode (on VIN180LP009): 5 038622 117719 – Head over Heels, double album version with second disc of EP of Sunburst and Snowblind included
Barcode (on VIN180LP010): 5 038622 117818 – Head over Heels, single album version
Barcode (on VIN180LP012): 5 038622 119416 – Garlands
Barcode (on VIN180LP018): 5 038622 123017 – Treasure
I don’t usually have multiple copies of things, But Cocteau Twins are amongst my favorite groups. And I actually have a couple of the gatefold Head over Heels in the box – so it got really confusing as I forgot how I bought them. So, I have seven pieces of vinyl in my box – yes, they fit OK.
I don’t have the Vinyl 180 sales sheet you mention for the Cocteau Twins box set, that would have clarified it with a simple glance. On one of the sales sheets I can see an image of the double gatefold album of Head over Heels which shows the Head over Heels double album inc the Sunburst and Snowblind EP as a second piece of Purple vinyl. (I don’t think this double gatefold edition of Head over Heels by Vinyl 180 is listed anywhere on Discogs and I have it.)
I also have a 'misprint' of this double album which I kept because the album cover misprint is so cool - there is a band of darker, metalic ink across the whole of the front cover which forms a beautiful mistake (but the sort of thing Vaughn Oliver did intentionally with his over-printing and splashed ink - so it may have been a short run experiment?). The image still shows clearly through this band of metalic ink; in a way it acts as a decorative band for the album title as the band perfectly frames the album text. I’d be interested to hear if anybody else has something similar to this. - Why is this box set listed as a 4LP + 1EP set: ie, a 5 x disc set? The track listing clearly lists Head over Heels twice as though the box contains two copies of Head over Heels - it doesn't.
The box has 3 x LPs and one EP. - How is the sound quality on these records? I have never listened to any albums by this record label Vinyl 180.
