- Initially I bought the "Yellow Opaque" edition which had ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE surface noise. Was able to send it back. This Clear/Blue&Red splatter seemed to be the better edition so went for it.
- There's still plenty of surface noise but it's not nearly as bad as the Yellow Opaque.
- There's also plenty of warp.
My conclusion: whoever is doing these for Secretly Canadian has no pride in their job and QC is non existent. YYYs don't seem to be bothered about how their music is represented which says a lot.
I'll stick with CDs in the future when it comes to Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
The music itself is still fantastic so there's that. - Not the quietest record in my collection, intermittent pops and crackle throughout although that seems to be the norm with many new pressings these days, I can just about live with it. I will give it a couple of cleans and see if that makes a difference. Other than that it feels like a nicely mastered record, nice soundscape and good separation. My copy is also basically clear with a few very light streaks of blue and red.
Great album IMO, nice to have some new material from the YYY's, took me a few listens to get into it and now it's on heavy repeat. - My copy is basically clear with barely visible streaks of blue and no red. Sounds great though, and I'm very pleased with the 3 signed cards that were included in an envelope.
- The URL given on the download card just plonked me at the Secretly Canadian store with no tips on where to go. I eventually found a page where I could enter my code: secretlystore.com/account?digital_code=
- Great album. It’s packaged very well and my red and blue splatter looks really good. I’m also lucky enough to have the signed photos. The vinyl is flat and mine sounds really good, no surface noise. No pops or clicks. Really enjoying the album, I highly recommend it.
- Nice album. Very little spatter. My copy with signed photo cards was ordered from The Drift Record Shop (Totnes, UK), not Rough Trade.
- Such a short album! My only real criticism. On the whole it’s well mastered; clean and punchy, the ambient tracks really breathe. Some noise on the run in on both sides but the bulk of the record it crystal clear. Packaging is great, love the addition of the signed post cards
- The packaging is really good, as well as the booklet and the printed inner sleeves. I would say that the color of this record is beautiful but it is no fully colored (or at least my copy isn’t), it is mostly crystal clear. The quality of the music is perfect, and the mastering is awesome, but the whole record have pops and click on both sides, most of them are quiet or minimal, but I noticed that in the first song of Side A there are few but significant pops, which is annoying. Oh, yeah, and it came slightly warped, nothing to be worried about.
