- if this doesn't make your nipples hard, then you are probably a rotting corpse...
just sayin
it's sweeter than a cherry pie with reddi-whip topping
aw yeah! - Beautiful clean sound right out of the package. Fits in perfect with Paul’s Boutique and Ill Communication to complete the holy Beastie trinity!
- I just did a comparison with this one: https://www.discogs.com/release/22425517-Beastie-Boys-Check-Your-Head - which uses the same mastering as the 2009 release.
The only difference I noticed was that the wax was red on this VMP release, and the cover is grainy too (Looks like a FAX which apparently is what it originally was anyway).
So yeah. Buy whichever version floats your boat. - FYI: the concert poster included with this release advertises their show at Toronto Canada's Varsity Arena on Monday 2 November 1992. It was my first time seeing the Beasties live; one of those seminal concerts that blew my mind. Rollins Band and Da Lynch Mob opened the show. The arena holds +5k. There's live footage+backstage interview from that show on youtube.
However I'm doubtful that the poster design included here was actually used for local advertising purposes. Curious why they chose the Toronto Varsity Arena show of all stops on that tour? - i don't think i've heard the beastie boys sound this amazing ever. it all sounds so much better, the color is really nice looking too! love everything about this pressing.
- I don’t have much to say that hasn’t already been said so I’ll keep it brief. This is the definitive version of this album, hands down. The cover is thick cardstock, tip on jacket with beautiful metallic ink. My only criticism is that even tho the picture is halftone, grainy film style I still think this repro looks a little blown out compared to others. The color is beautiful and suits the overall packaging. The record are thick, flat and sound great. No unintended noises, dead quiet between track and lead in/out, the bass hits like you want it to and everything sounds clear.

Klipsch R-101 SW - Holy cow! An amazing press of this classic record. This might be VMP’s best press of anything EVER. It literally sounds PERFECT. The only thing I would’ve changed is the color of the wax. Maybe black & white pinwheel to match the cover art? But whatever! That means nothing in the long run. Happy to have this one.
- Gonna be honest, I’ve never really been a fan of the beastie boys but this album is really good. All analog cut of an instrument heavy hip hop album? Yes please.
