Reviews
- FYI I mixed both A & B sides 'live' for the studio recordings on Technics using clean vinyl from my collection. I was working for Desire as A&R at the time & got them to licence the Chuck Roberts track & Fingers Inc to have this project released. Before that i was mixing the tracks live in my DJ sets - Eddie Richards
- Edited 9 years agoOne last thing to say about the quality of the Jack Trax vs. the Desire Records releases:
I was in a record shop the other day (in Manchester) and found both versions in excellent condition. Instinctively I wanted to take the picture cover version which was also 5 pound cheaper then the Desire Records version.
Having had a listen, I choose the Desire version, because the sound quality was far superior to the Jack Trax release, more punch simply better sounding. - Edited 13 years agoThis is a great release but I must correct Clarkee, the original vocal from Chuck Roberts was lifted from the much rarer, much better and much more expensive Rhythm Controll, My House on Catch A Beat Records. So far as the Jack Trax release, this has the much better and again rarer (although not quite so rare following various bootlegs) Robert Owens vocal in place of Chuck Roberts. This also includes the simply moving and amazing mlk speech over the fingers inc loop (accapella) which is worth good money on it own.
Well worth picking up. Prices are rising back to historic levels (used to sell £50 for a good one) of about 10 years ago when this was a truely in demand record. - Edited 17 years agoFor those of you not lucky enough to get the release on Jack Trax or old enough to know where that "In the Beginning there was Jack and Jack had a groove..." sample came from, then this release is a MUST OWN. Running in a close second to Your love by Frankie Knuckles as one of the most beautifull, soulfull, uplifting and seminal pieces of dance music. Do not bother with soundclips, do not worry about sleeve conditions, just get it where-ever you can, close your eyes, listen and drift off into the feeling of when you first discovered House music. Can we invent a 6 out of 5 rating Please!!!!!!!!!
