- Totally disagree with the preceding comment - This Is Not A Stinker!!!! In fact, God is one of Sault's most focused and realized work. If you have problems with artist expressing faith then you will not like this. However, if this is not a barrier, and you are a connoisseur of soul music with an appreciation for serious and thoughtful approaches to music making, then you will find a lot to enjoy (love) on this latest edition from the Sault Collective. There is real depth, musicality and sincerity on offer. It definitely harkens back to 70's indie soul music making, a little more pared down and updated with contemporary lo-fi production. I have the vinyl edition and it is overall well done - great mastering, sound detailing. The vinyl press could be a scooch more quite but it does not interfere with the music. One of the best of the year.
This one is a bit of a stinker. It's too bad this talented crew are such massive god-botherers. I can tolerate a track or two of that kind of thing, but this is a whole album of it. Pass.- Will the physical releases of "Untitled (God)" only be available via Bandcamp?

Edited 2 years agoI'm only 7 tracks deep into this, on the morning of Saturday 5th November. It's raining & miserable outside, but it's my fave day of the year, memories of childhood anticipating fireworks & goodies on my birthday tomorrow. The feeling stays with me, though the events have changed. Life beats the fun out of you as an adult, & it's never been tougher than right now. Time we took a step back, in order to move forwards? Oh ye of little faith...
Let's face it: a Godless world is chaos. But many of us find the notion of worshipping God a little pointless, even daft... Yet I'm moved so heavily by the words & music within this offering from the Sault collective.
Maybe since all the tricks of magic & illusion have been revealed we see all in the same light; everything has a logical or scientific explanation. Thanks Sault for reminding me, that while I personally believe that God is no singular being: God is all, God is all of us, God is life, creation; I prefer the moniker 'The Creator'. Believe it & turn your back to darkness.
10/10 on this digi- only LP, as you read, it's left me inspired & with that safe feeling you only get in a church. I sorely missed that feeling.
