I am listening to this right now and so much happier listening to this on vinyl than streaming. Mine sounds much more open and way less compressed. Really happy with this one.

Just copped the black vinyl of this and it's true - crappy. Music is outstanding - definitely one of the best in 2022 particularly the Thundercat and the Anderson Paak tracks. Poorly served by this pressing. Will be looking for a better pressing. 3 stars!

Great album, crappy pressing. It’s quiet and my record is flat, but all the dynamic integrity of the digital album (which I’ve listened to many times) is lost in this pressing. Just sounds like you’re listening through wax paper or something; dull and flat and missing the sparkle that was intended. Always a disappointment when a new, fantastic artist has a pressing done that doesn’t come close to doing them justice. And my setup features a $200 Audio Technica nude stylus cartridge for those of you who hope to pin my review on gear. It ain’t the gear. It’s the dice roll that modern pressings have become.

Sounds good but I've already had 7 copies, and all have been warped. Having good quality control seems to not be a priority for pressing plants these days. Hopefully the labels start holding these pressing plants accountable b/c pressing plants seem to be pretty bad w/ working on good quality control.

After a few listens I wanted to come back as this release has very mixed reviews for the pressing. I have listened to a few copies and can maybe give some insight. This recording is super dry. With intent. I saw them live and they were even very dry live. I was about 3 feet from JD and without plugs it didn't bother me at all because of the way he damped his heads. I can say though that there is definitely plenty of air in the recording. The cymbals, background vocals, and some of the keys have that really breathy high end shimmer. So I know its not bad pressings. Its not muddy. Just very very dry compared to all the resolution we are used to nowadays. If you have a warm setup or aren't capable of getting to at least 25,000 khtz through all your components, this may sound a bit flat.

Obviously there are pressing issues occasionally. I wholeheartedly believe that most aren't really used to hearing such a dry recording though. Not many have ever recorded that way.

Great debut. Not remotely outright jazz, more jazzy poppy r'n'b esque with a laid back vibe, but thats not to its discredit.
With Pallas i find that 80% of the time they press a perfectly good LP. The other 20% is horrid non filled messes. They also screw up in large batches too. This however, is one of the good ones.... flat, centre'd and quiet. Jacket is cheapest of cheap but poly lined inner is always nice to see. At £22 im hapoy but still cant help feeling the CD at half the cost is going to be just as good if not perhaps better.

Hey guys, my vinyl sounds like shit. And a friend told me the same about her´s. So I wonder what went wrong when so many others saying its good ? And YES, I do have new pick-ups on an MK II and a real nice amplifier plus Klipsch 600....

Surprised to see Bernie in the dead wax. Made me ever more excited to listen as I was worried about how they would treat their debut release. Sounds nice and balanced. Superb.

This album is a benchmark for New Jazz going forward IMHO.
