Reviews
- Extremely interesting album. You hear Lee Perry is all over this. In addition, the content bridges the gap between roots reggae at the time and hypocritical American history and policy. 'Who Killed the Buffalo' and its Upsetter styled dub version are standouts on this album. A song aim squarely at the American destruction of native culture and need to posthumously elevate Buffalo Bill to historic status. A very smart collection for the most discerning ear and history buff.
Also important to note is that lion Zion is not American (as stated by the previous reviewer). He is Jamaican born and raised and then educated as a lawyer in the United States. This may also provide some insight as to the content of the album and his predilection for sociopolitical/historical lyrics. A great buy! Highly recommended. - Even for me as a long time reggae collector it was a surprise to own & hear this rarely known LP.
It's pure Black Ark - every tune never heard before, exclusively made for this record.
Superb for my ears.
The Voice of LION ZION ( An American Rasta) is need getting used to, but socially critical(credited to the USA) and also got funny lines.
It's worth owning and hearing it - not only for LEE PERRY Enthusiats !
