Flipper's bug off! - Pleasantly surprised by this. It hasn’t been remastered so it still lacks any dynamism, but it’s an improvement on the original CD (and significantly better than the horribly compressed version on some streaming services) and my copy is silent, flat and centred. Still available on the Doves website for a much better price than on here.
- Just purchased this from the Doves store. Under $50 US. It took about a month to arrive but I would imagine they have plenty left.
- Edited one year agoJust received my copy 634/2000. The gold pressing is beautiful and quiet with little to no surface noise. It sounds great and the mix/master is authentic to the original. This record was made during the height of the loudness wars around 2007-2010. With that in mind, it is very compressed and distorted in some areas but that has nothing to do with this pressing and all to do with the aesthetic of the time. If you’re a fan of this record and have been craving it on vinyl, then just do it. I’m glad I did.
- Very disappointed with Side A.
A noticeable defect in the pressing. Noisey and dull and scratchy in places. Not good enough. - First: I am a bit disappointed that this is not a gatefold.
Second: For those complaining that this vinyl sounds compressed or loud or anything else, please go and listen to the CD or to the streaming services versions, this album has always sounded like this… like ’rust’ if you like. Was this an stylistic choice? Maybe.
Am I happy with this release? Yes. - I’d be really interested to hear the views of others on this gold repress because to me it sounds terrible. It sounds too loud and distorted in places. No clarity at all.
