Show All 15 Reviews- Fantastic energy here. Great pressing with no clicks or pops. I thought at first that this was slightly sped up but then realized that it how they decided to approach the songs. You won't be disappointed in this purchase.
- 4500 was for the US market only, worldwide, 11000 made
https://www.rhino.com/article/rhino-reveals-exclusive-releases-for-rsd-black-friday-2022 - Love this! Brings back so many good memories of being at Hammersmith in 1982, my first ever DD concert.
My pressing is superb. No clicks and pops and to my ears a good mix considering how old this is. Having the bass and guitar up front in the mix is something I like. It reminds you of how good Andy was back then.
I don't mind the screaming girls, it adds to the atmosphere of the recording and back then they created a lot of teen hysteria. This is how they should have released Arena in my humble opinion.
I think the gold vinyl looks good but I would have preferred to match the colour of the sleeve. Just a personal choice.
Finally this is reportedly from the 16th November. That is the date that I attended. While I would love this to be true, I question the date because on the 16th, Steve Harley joined Duran Duran on stage for Make Me Smile. From this recording and on the CD/DVD release there is no Steve Harley! Probably a minor quibble and of no use to most, but it matters to me! - Fantastic album and live…… But Simon is behind the music a bit too much…… Otherwise fantastic pressing
- Flawless pressing, but odd mix. No competition for “As the lights go down” or even “Arena”. Something for completists.
This one will probably not get much platter-time from me. - Just backing up what most have said...exactly what you'd expect from a 1982 live recording. Generally well mixed although Le Bon's voice gets a little lost at times. Four stars from me.
- Sounds great, unexpectedly the guitar is loud and well mixed, much more forward than their original recordings! I feel it improves things!
- Edited one month agoI’ve just listened to my copy through and through and can report that my copy is virtually flawless. There was one caveat: one very minor blip of stitching in the beginning of side 3 but luckily it sounds more like a tick or pop than random white noise - so I can live with it.
Sound quality is as good as you can expect from a live show recorded for a video back in 1982. That being said, the band is on fire here, and the vocals are nice but back in the mix leaving the rhythm section to shine. This mixing choice may make some uneasy, but I enjoyed it a lot.
As well, the dynamics are fairly noticeable and the album breathes the more you turn it up.
A great release.
