This thing sounds absolutely amazing! Possible one of the best of the recent Tone Poet releases. This is a fun record to play.

I truly love the tunes here. The recording is abit bass light so it lacks some warmth but it is quite common for BN stuff to often have a bass light and piano receded sound however it still is most enjoyable. The pressing iteslf is nigh on flat, dead centered and most importantly silent as can be, it doesnt LOOK great ala most RTI but its reference playback for me. For the £25 quid i paid, a well pressed Tone Poet is the best value for money release a guy can buy.

      Highly recommended

Flat, quiet, maybe could do with a bit deeper bass. So far I have been quite happy with TP releases, no quality issues.

Only a minor observation about the jacket, the photo of Billy Higgins on this release, recorded Jan 6, 1966, is the same photo used on the TP Stick-up, recorded July 14, 1966. I know that all photos are not from the individual recording dates, but still, odd to use the same photo.

While my disc sounds great, i wish the bas was a bit louder. About the pressing, edge warp, but plays well.

Fist TP with a noticeable warp for me. Doesn’t affect play, still sounds amazing, just annoying.

Top 3 TP of 2022 for me. Along with For Django and Stick Up

Really happy with buying this one. Great mix of blues and latin. Fun spin. Quality sound front to back.

All good here as far as the pressing goes. No issues to report. Sounds quite ok but I wouldn’t say it’s a spectacular listen compared to some of the best Tone Poets and it’s definitely a Tier 2 or 3 Blue Note as opposed to being an out and out “classic”. But they can’t all be classics and this is still good fun with a Sidewinder kind of vibe when you’re in the mood for that kind of thing.

Another gem from my beloved Blue Mitchell, but this time from Tone Poet, wow! My speakers thanked me for the breath!

Very hot mix imo. So hot that some of the horns clip pretty badly in spots. Generally the tone Poets are magic but this was pushed a bit too loud imo.
