Notes
This is Nicole Mitchell's first solo album of 2005, now released for the first time. She self-recorded it on a zoom, outside in the captivating terrain of Deer Isle, Maine. Here Mitchell musically converses with the waters, birds, squirrels, the wind and the spirit of the forest in Deer Isle. While at an artist residency at Haystack School of Crafts, she explored and experienced the rich landscape in union with nature, while bringing her flutes, harp, voice as vehicles for testimony, reflection and meditation. She thanks directors Stu Kastenbaum and Larry Blumenfield for the residency that inspired the work.
