I was going to post a review of this years ago saying how it's the most overlooked breakbeat hardcore record I know. I've never heard it in a mix and it wasn't even on Youtube. Well, someone went and put it on Youtube and it's even been featured on a blog but it's still a cracking piece of wax.

"Thrive" has a huge piano riff, dreamy high-pitched melody and fat breaks - all that nice stuff. But I prefer "Optical Illusion" on the b-side. It's a bit faster, darker and more jungalistic in general.

The only strike against this 12" is the sample from Kariya's "Let Me Love You For Tonight" on "Dubtical Illusion". As much as I love the original, I'm sick of hearing it sampled and it never quite works for me. I guess if I'm picking nits, the bass on the a-side is muddy. Anyway, top flight hardcore here.
