This, by the Cocteau Twins, is the first album of change. In fact it is a much more pop and dream pop album, unlike their 80s albums. When this album came out, I remember that it wasn't much appreciated, especially by older fans who were used to a darker sound. But everything changes, music, society, the way of thinking, fashion, so I never understand too much the fans or people who are upset when things change. On the other hand, if everything always remained the same (in general) it would mean "no growth" and we would probably always get tired of the same things. So long live "change", long live the 90s Cocteau Twins, without forgetting their sound from the previous decade obviously.

Wow what an amazing album. I completely ignored it at the time as I was so in love with earlier albums (Garlands, Treasure, Head Over Heels). I bought into negative hype and never gave it a chance. Well I've owned this vinyl copy for ages, but dont remember listening to it until now. What a shame. This version sounds perfect, especially at high volume. The balance between the instrumentation and vocals is sweetly perfect. Masters and released before the 1995 loudness wars means this is a unique and beautiful album.

Superb pressing on quiet vinyl that perfectly renders the ear pleasing euphonic glory of Elizabeth Fraser’s heavenly vocals better than all the digital versions I have ever heard. To be able to do that against the Robin Guthrie wall of sound is no small feat - but on songs like Bluebeard and Oil of Angels, two of my favorite Cocteau Twins songs, it is a stunning, perfectly executed production with Liz’s vocal upfront and center, clear and crisp, big and bold, with her own sweet harmonies accompanying her on the left and the right within a soundscape that takes up every bit of the space between the walls - just insanely beautiful. Get a clean copy if you can find one - it’s DEFINITELY worth it!

Re: the original Fontana LP pressing. Pretty good pressing considering the era-not totally clean but it will do. Mastering is top notch; full sound with great HF definition. Cost me a pretty penny in early 2018. Would not trade it for a recent pressing, I am a total believer in early pressings; later pressings will never sound as fresh.
EDIT... I noticed recently that the guitar knob on the cover goes up to "11"...LOL!...
Was lucky enough to see them on this tour in "Pachá" in Madrid; Liz downed SEVERAL small water(or were they?) bottles during the gig.

I bought this along with Milk & Kisses reissues in Dublin today, they were €40 each. Pretty steep. I thought they'd be €30 at most. Oh well!

This one is my favorite of Cocteau Twins. And Heaven Or Las Vegas is edge and edge too.
This work just penetrates deeply into my soul and emotions. It never fails to give me a higher perspective with haunting longing for a life that was left to come here to this tormented little planet earth.
Know who you are at every age. May Love go forth.
