- Shame on whoever cut this with 7 tracks on side A of a 12 track album. I presume it was done to not break up the interlude at the end of A6 and A7, which was unnecessary. Side B sounds significantly better to my ear. Overall an improvement over the picture disc which is the only other pressing I’ve heard.
The first copy I received of this was pretty scratched up and rather dirty. One scratch literally looked like a dremel was dragged across it. I of course exchanged it. The second copy still lightly dirty but not scratched at all. Upon playing it, it sounds pretty great. I've never received a record that looked this used new out the sleeve. I actually ordered the first 7 albums of the new repressings and 4 of them were like this, one warped even. I've received 3 of the replacements and again, all were lightly dirty but not scratched as the first set. I'm happy with my final nice copy but yikes on the quality control. Could just be my luck but it's early post release I know. Also the inner sleeves on these are all glossy static nightmares so swap those out when you can.
If you need a big hit of nostalgia then the new pressing will get you your fix. The value is excellent at the low price point and if you didnt want to hunt down the expensive UO exclusives or settle for a picture disc then this new wide release is a must have.
While I haven't heard Britney's older pressings for comparison, I can at least say the mastering for this pressing is very clean, sharp, and well done! I was very pleased with the sound quality. The vinyl was somewhat dirty in the printed paper sleeve so keep in mind you may need to give it a good clean when you get it to get the best sound quality.
I'll def be picking up a couple of my other favorites from the new re-release for my dose of 2000s pop!!!
