Reviews
- For me, Camouflage Heart is the crowning glory for Gordon Sharp. It's a soaring, heartfelt slice of heaven and hell all combined. Gordon's voice is incredible - he is also a strong presence live. The instrumentation is unique in its construction.
Camouflage Heart may be a difficult album to get into. The first time I played it I was a tad perplexed, but by the third listen I was drawn into it's world. If you like it, you should like Wappinschaw and In This World. There is also, the Cocteau Twins' Garlands CD with the Bonus tracks – where Gordon, a friend of Elisabeth, accompanies - hence his tribute to Elisabeth about having room in the rosary for three. Garlands and Camouflage Heart are similar in their attempts at creating entirely new 'head spaces' of sound.
People maybe know Gordon’s voice from This Mortal Coil’s Kangaroo and It’ll End in Tears. It’s also worth Googling Help Me Lift You Up and The First Time Ever from the Wappinschaw album. However, I really think his voice works best submerged in the fully formed albums, mainly the first four cindytalk albums.
