I have the original vinyl in this one and it’s always sounded superb. I’m happy they reissued it and I heard the digital remaster today. Not bad, but the original vinyl still rules. I’m curious about the new vinyl but I’m happy with my OG vinyl.
Surprisingly mine sounded really good. Didn't have any issues with vocal distortion or otherwise. Mastering sounded top notch. Hopefully there are plenty of good copies out there for everyone.
Not happy with this pressing at all. The noise on the vocals is insane. For a shocking comparison, I put on the Wilco RSD release right after this one, and the whole album was crystal clear. As one reviewer pointed out, the pedal steel (which is phenomenal) sounds great on here, but that's about it. This is my last Craft purchase.
The disc is way off-centered and pretty noisy on side A. Lots of distortion on You're Crazy for Taking a Bus, and that's on a line stylus, so I guess it's a crappy print. Craft Recordings is known for having a problematic quality control.
Kevin Gray did an amazing job with the mastering though, chapeau to that. Too bad his hard work is marred by a sub-par pressing.
