I've gone through 2 copies of this album. Both had the same defect in same spot on "Futuristic Coffin". This leads me to believe that the defect is on the stamper. My 2nd copy was warped with a VERY sloppy spindle hole. I'll stick the digital version due to the terrible quality of this pressing.

I have a sealed copy I’ve been wanting to break into and just want to see if anyone can tell me how it sounds before hand thanks!

When I unwrapped my copy and inspected the vinyl there were dirt and paper scuffs across it. I was able to remove the dust with my brush but side A still had constant crackling in the right channel.

At first I worried that my cartridge had been misaligned but the rest of my albums still sounded fine. I even thought that the album may have been overly statically charged, but again side B was fine and the later half of side A had quitter crackling sounds. I fiddled with the record for awhile but could not clear up the crackling.

Here's hoping for a better second copy and I'll update my review once it has been received.

UPDATE: So my second copy arrived and the crackling on the right channel is still there. Rather than sending it back I decided to double check the digital version of the song on Spotify. I had to turn it up pretty loud but there it was, the right channel crackling sound was actually on the original recording. The weirder part is that it's there for the first two tracks and then it goes away, but there it was, muffled but present on the digital recording.

So apparently this album has fake vinyl crackling sounds on the first two tracks and only on the right speaker. WTF?

This second copy was cleaner than the last one. No dirt and no scuffs but there was still white paper shavings allover it from the paper sleeve. No big deal but still annoying.

Overall, the vinyl pressing does sound better than the digital version with one rather big downside of having that fake vinyl crackling sound stand out way more on vinyl than it does on the digital. It's a shame that people feel inclined to add fake vinyl noise loops even if they are using clean samples but in a post-post-music world nothing really surprises me anymore.

I have the release date as 2010-11-16. This is a pretty big disparity, so I'm guessing that my retailer did not stock it on release?
