Reviews
- It took me awhile to understand and enjoy this one, and I know now that there are dead stretches in some of the improvisations, but the sum of the eight tracks is a great album. Notes of rock, jazz and underlying noise (guitar feedback, contrarhythmic drumming, the swells of organ bass) come together to form a music that Miles Davis attempted to emulate until he discovered the power of riffs and grooves. Here Tony Williams channels primal sound. Tony says the Beatles were his one of his inspirations for a "rock"-oriented sound; I don't think this is anything like them, but if the Beatles are partly responsible for "Emergency!" then maybe I should listen to their stuff more often.
- I can't work out how to do it, but please would someone correct the last track from "Something Special" to "Something Spiritual". Thanks.
