Good news from the Shoongle mailing list:

Firstly, the big news: Twisted is pleased to announce the reissues of the first 3 Shpongle albums as brand-new heavyweight vinyl standard editions via Amazon and all good record shops starting early in 2022!

While I am an indebted fan of the Infinity Project, some Hallucinogen and the Mystery of the Yeti, Shpongle has never moved me. Maybe I have listened to way too much Goa Trance and had high expectation for Shpongle, but for me this type of music feels contrived and over thought out. If you never heard any Classic Goa Trance, maybe one would find this music cool in some way, but for me, this just feels like a hybrid of many musical meanderings that have never worked, and for me, never will. There were artists before Shpongle who have tried this style of music and many have come after. There is one thing in common: I always want to turn it off.

It is very sad to see the 2017 RM being sold here for 500 pounds or so. If only there was droit de suite (artist's resale rights) then Posford and Ram could make some money from these scalpers.

This needs another repress for those of us who discovered this amazing band late

Amazing album at the time - changed the game and set the template for that style of dubby chillout with exceptional production values. This was way ahead of most other dance music at the time IMO. No after party mong session in the late 90's was complete without a bit of this. However, after this EVERYTHING started to sound the same. Now whenever I hear a chillout tune 20 years later i usually think; 'another one that sounds like shpongle'!!

Timeless masterpiece, greatest electronic album every made. For sure this was never equaled in any way.

This changed the way I see and hear music for ever.

Thanks Simon and Raja for this work

Been waiting months for this and no word from Twisted all this time. NO response from twisted about how to pre-order. Now it came and went in less than 24 hours. Really... Come ON!!! Already waiting for Repress!!!! : (

Although Shpongle uses electronic sounds, their music is not made for that electronic feel or that atmosphere for pure chillout bliss moments. If you are looking for those attributes, you'll miss them. Instead, much like Entheogenic (though each have their own musical identity), Shpongle makes simply psychedelic music, with world and tribal influences, combining acoustic instruments (Raja Ram plays the flute) with electronic sounds in a surely very well crafted work.
