I could be mistaken, but I seem to remember Sub Base's artwork guru, Dave Nodz, saying it was he who suggested NRG for the Remix of 'Deepa'. Whoever suggested it deserves a pint of the finest ale. NRG takes a fairly unremarkable original and flips it into something extraordinary.

Meanwhile, with its inspired use of a Kool Keith sample and melodies created entirely from some insane scratching, Hype's remix of 'Funky Hardcore' also leaves the original in the dust as well.

The NRG remix gives me the shivers every time I hear it. The question "what is hardcore about in 1993" can be easily answered with this track! 5/5

NRG remix is an absolute classic old skool hardcore track and was played to death by Slipmatt in '93, usually mixed with the tumbling mix of DJ Rap and Aston's Vertigo. Check out his mix from Universe Tribal Gathering if you can find it. It's my all time favourite mixtape and contains some awesome tracks from that era. Oh how I wish I could go back......

The NRG remix of 'Deepa' is just extraordinary: a hyperactive clatter of synth stabs, chipmunk vocals, hoover basslines... pretty much everything chucked in the mix, all coming at you relentlessly at 153bpm. Amazing, one of my favourite old-skool hardcore tracks ever.

NRG's mix of Deepa has to be one of the most under rated remixes of all time.
