Just stumbled upon this in a $2 bin and am happily impressed. “Lies” by Mary Ford is a real standout and tugs at your heart, surprisingly so given the veneer of perkiness to their music in general. But it has depth, with a mournful “swing low” that sounds like a latter-day Dylan arrangement, and a soulful and reverent Les solo. Nuevo Laredo gets surprisingly hip at around 30 seconds in. Songbird harmonies. I believe this album was made as their relationship seemed to be coming apart, but I just hear them at the top of their game. I like this.
