Reviews
- AMAZING pressing of this album. Perfectly warm, balanced and detailed. If only they would do this to more of EJ's albums... If you are reading this wishing you had it and don't, and because of this you are sad, you should be! HAHA!
- I must say that I am surprised at the subdued lows of this pressing - was expecting more boom. Besides that, all the other elements are there and make this pressing incredible.
- Mirroring these great reviews, I genuinely believe that this is the best pressing of this album by a mile. Sucks Rocket Man lost some fidelity being the last track on this pressing, because on the DCC pressing of Elton’s Greatest Hits, its the first track on side 2 and it’s a surreal experience to listen to how good that recording sounds. Still, this is a must for every Elton John fan, audiophile or not
- Absolutely beautiful pressing. It sounds just perfect to my ears. Lovely packaging as well. Another homerun for VMP.
- This is likely to be the go-to version for anybody wanting a great sounding copy of this album. This release is cut AAA by Ryan K. Smith, unlike the recent UMC cut from digital editions. Expect value & demand to increase.
- Edited one year agoSomewhat disappointed as I was expecting more based on the reviews. It’s very bright and it makes certain instruments like the piano sound unnatural. I feel like the 2017 Sean Magee is more balanced overall despite not being AAA. Jacket lacks the texture of originals or the 2017, but that probably the trade off for doing it as a tip on. Like the vinyl color though. Maybe it is better on warmer systems. Played back with an Ortofon 2M Bronze.
- One of the better VMP releases I've acquired. Top notch across the board - packaging, mastering, press quality, etc... Excellent reissue.
- This is a revelatory pressing - honest, like hearing its brilliance for the first time again. Mona Lisa and Mad Hatters has such detailed textures I never knew exist.
- Actually got a mislabeled copy my first time. Had the side 2 label on both sides. VMP sent me out a new one less than 24 hours later, so three cheers for customer service.
It's clear from the first 15 seconds of Honky Cat what an incredible pressing this is. One of the better sounding additions to my collection.
