Notes
RTI identifiers in runouts on this version differ from the 2020 pressing.
2023 repress of the 2020 Tone Poet version. In the summer of 2023 Blue Note Records announced in the newsletter that a repress of the out of stock Tone Poet release was about to be released. In stores in July 2023 this versions has a different wording on the Tone Poet hype sticker on the outside of the release:
The 2020 version states:
"Mastered from the original analog tapes"
The 2023 version states:
"Cut directly from the original analog tapes"
Also, on the hype sticker, the 2023 has the text "STDLTNPCUT" that the hype sticker on the 2020 version does not have.
A Blue Note Records release; Originally released in 1956 by Pacific Jazz Records.

There is an error on the spine of the jacket. It says ''Stereo'' instead of ''Mono''. Just like the 2020 pressing.

Reviews
- The mastering is very nice, though my pressing has quite a few snaps, crackles, and pops - definitely the most flawed Tone Poet release I've come to own. That said, the music is wonderful and Chet's voice makes it worth sitting through the audible defects.

Edifier R1700BT - Fantastic sounding record, but my copy on the spine reads “Blue Note Stereo” although this is a mono pressing.
- Saturation of the trumpet all over the disc... I am tired of those new Tone Poets pressing !
It is just like the Lou Donaldson record. I sent it back ! - probably the one of the best sounding records I own, up there with UHQR Kind of Blue, only for half the price. Unreal.
- Finally got my hands on this one ! Incredibly good sounding release, although my copy came slightly wrapped. Chet’s voice fills the room !! Believe the hype. 👌🏻
- On the Tone Poet repress, anybody else notice distortions on Chet's voice when he sings a word with a P-sound. Pretty noticeable on track 2, side 2. Not a huge deal, but did irk me a little. I did see in a YouTube video recently Kevin Gray said he had to re-cut side two due to damage in the metal plating, or stampers they used for original Then Poet. Wonder if KG overlooked something here in his mastering. Anyone have any information?
- This sounds as great as everyone says it does. Great music, great recorded sound. Session photos inside the gatefold are grainy, not clear and sharp as Tone Poet photos usually are. As of today, still available online at the Everything Jazz site.
