I understand why other fans of Leer's earlier work may not like this, and for the longest time I wasn't as impressed as I was with the Cherry Red/Oblique/Industrial releases, but I have to say I've come to love this. As mentioned, this is Leer with a Fairlight trying to make something as glossy and pop as possible. He wasn't alone, like Heaven 17, the Human League and others who followed ABC's path from underground new wave to the top of the charts, Leer really believed he could subvert from the inside. It didn't work, but this is a beautiful 80s pop record with extremely subtle charms.

I was a little disappointed by this LP. "Contradictions" was raw NewWave-City-Soul, and here he uses a CMI Fairlight to do 'real' songs which became a little sterile. nevertheless there are 3 or 4 good songs on it ("International", "Mistrust")
