Reviews
- Edited 2 days agoGreat album but bad pressing ! Too much noise like all my dead ocean records (and clean the LP).
- Very pleased with this pressing. It’s super quiet and I haven’t even cleaned it yet. The music itself is fantastic. Lots of layers, great production and songwriting.
- Music is bad. Album art is stolen from the inside gatefold art found in “Their Satanic Majesties Request”, & I’m hearing that these were pressed like garbage. Hard pass.
- Sounds good to me - no overt noise or clicks and pops reported here.
My only complaint is that the sleeve is about 3mm too wide and it won't fit into a (usually roomy) Vinyl Solutions clear outer sleeve.
Something to note - here's an indie act releasing an LP on a nice gatefold card sleeve on clear vinyl with poly lined inners for RRP of around $23. Now that's a decent price. GTFOH with these $38 records. - My copy has some noise, but nothing too distracting. I’m not sure how much of that was the pressing or the fact I played it with a needle that was past it’s prime.
As far as the album goes, not my favorite of theirs, but a good album nonetheless. Slowdive have always rode the (blurry) line between shoegaze and dream pop. This album is definitely more on the dream pop end of things. It’s more commercial friendly than their earlier albums, which is bound to disappoint some of their long time fans. - Ehh… kind of a let down. Very pop driven, up front vocals instead of their buried washed out lush vocal stylings of the past. Song changes are so predictable… way less dreamy and ethereal than the sound we love them for. Feels overthought. Does not stand out as a keeper to me after multiple listens. Some of the cool spaced out into synth material at the beginning of tracks is cool, wish they would have experimented more in this way. Pop, predictable, lackluster. Unfortunately)))
- After reading all the negative comments I gave my copy an extra thorough clean on my Watsons vacuum record cleaning machine, about 15 minutes per side. Still, there are plenty of pops all over the record, some tracks more than others but definitely distracting.
Soundwise it is great, but the pressing is really lacking.
