DJ Ageishi is like the sensei of japanese DJs: a true legend and active since 1973, he can scoop from an incredible musical wealth of experiences yet has his ear to what’s happening in the now. this mixture of knowledge and curiosity for the new also characterizes his debut on Internasjonal with colleague DJ Akin’, who left his mark outside of Japan with a remix for Brennan Green’s “900lb man". Rattling drum breaks from the funk end of disco are the backbone for a soprano sax lick slightly remiscent of Coltrane’s “a love supreme” that floats on top of noise distortet sheets of synth before the “Rain Parade” makes a total turn ending with a comforting lullaby like rhodes melody.PRINS THOMAS boils it all down to a simmering slow dub remake, while MARK E lets all the single ingredients patiently lets every ingredient from the original develop its full-bodied flavour before kicking up the heat.
