Reviews
- Adding to the chorus, I recently was able to grab this on a trip to Wales. The CD was in constant rotation for me in 2003-2004 and this reissue does the album great justice. Dead quiet, flat, sounds incredible and vibrant start to finish. Hearing Slow Life on vinyl for the first time and sounding so good was a thrill.
- Just to concur with what everyone else has said - a fantastic reissue. Sounds incredible, great presentation. Grab it whilst you can!
- I have to agree with the other reviews here this is a terrific reissue. The sound is dynamic with good instrument separation. One of the best SFA albums, it really benefits from this remaster. You can really crank it up! Lovingly done cover as well, all the way down to the bevel detail on the die cut sleeve. Get it while you can!!
Audio Note Amp and speakers
Nottingham Analogue Turntable - Wow! Reference quality stuff! After some issues with the earlier re-releases in this series ( particularly Guerrilla which I bought two bad copies of), this is perfect, and allows the wonderfully recorded music to really pop. After the early stuff, all of the SFA stuff sounded great on cd, but not on lp at the time. The re-releases have all sounded very good, but poor pressing quality has in some cases masked the music. Not here. I’m having my arm and cart recalibrated shortly and this is the record I’ll be using to test it.
- Edited one year agoSounds awesome, so much better than original CD. Finally I can turn the volume up on Out of Control, Venus and Serena and Golden Retriever and not get a headache. I would rather have polysleeve packaging with no paper residues on records, but still very little crackling. And die cut cover is a bit thin, so you'll have to be careful not to damage it. I have recent vinyl reissues of their first three albums and this one, and although it's my least favourite, it probably sounds best of them all.
- Great sounding record, in lovely packaging. Can’t think why sides ‘3’ and ‘4’ should be indicated as ‘5’ and ‘4’ (and that way around) on both sleeve and labels tho…?!
- sounds absolutely incredible. can't wait for 2025 for them to do the next one, the original pressings of these are so mind blowingly awful. I am so glad they are redoing these.
- Edited one year agoTHIS is how you do a modern reissue! Packaging is fantastic (The letter from the "executive producer" is a cute addition) though i can see the die-cut cover getting damaged if you're not careful. Sound is immaculate, incredibly clear and punchy, not a hint of surface noise, discs are flat as a pancake. It's rare to get a 2xLP release this high quality for less than 30 USD nowadays but this one absolutely delivers.
- The sound of this reissue is insanely good. Amazing music and beautiful packaging. The band’s work on this reissue has paid off with an amazing release. Saw them on the tour for this album in 2003 and finally have a copy after 20 years!
