Reviews
- Hmm, the Beatles "butcher" lps come to mind. Do I remove the sticker to see Superman or do I leave the sticker on?
- Easily Sufjan's crowning achievement. For me Sufjan Stevens is one of those frustrating kind of artists where I greatly admire his creativity and his work ethic, yet I find his music a mixed bag quality-wise. Even stylistically his music covers a lot of ground - again something I genuinely respect the artist for doing. I love the fact that I don't know what kind of music he'll release next! However, I've still yet to feel that same sense of amazement that I felt upon listening to Illinois back in 2005. To be honest, nothing's come close; Carrie and Lowell being probably my second favourite of his. There's something about this album that just blows me away - some songs 'click' straight away, yet other songs are 'growers' - and to top it off, the complete album is certainly far greater than the sum of it's parts. All of those tiny little interludes really do add to the whole album experience and I feel like a part of something 'big' when I'm listening. For me this is an easy contender for one of the greatest albums of the 00's and should rightly be remembered as one of the best within it's genre (whatever that may be...).
- funny that this issue is not like 100 € already - its has the superman also - you can remove the balloon if you want :)
- So the original pressing was 5,000... but how many actually made it out without the stickers as opposed to with?
