David Gimour has given us a true gem with this release, mastered to such excellence that it sounds like it was recorded yesterday. The strumming is so crisp, studio sounds are evident - it's so raw and alive that you are momentarily in that studio with Syd, watching him work as his mind slowly withers away. Excellent pressing, top quality.
Disappointments: -There's lots of dead space on the A side, and plenty on each of the other sides that I'm sure more tracks could've been included -Some noise on the first track of the B side -Ramadan is excluded from vinyl, and there's no download code available for it. I think a 45 single could've been included. It's even possible that with some rearranging, Ramadan could've made it on the 4 LP. However you look at it, it's a shame to spend this money and not have that last track included.
Beautiful pressing. The 2010 mixes and remixes are really cool and quite different. In the case of Mother Matilda, it sounds like a completely different song (different lyrics + different take than the other versions I have on the US Piper). Heavy glossy jacket and sturdy printed sleeves full of artwork but alas, no download card!
The Sound Quality of the Pressing is Amazing. Syd at his Finest! The Gilmour Remix is Awesome and I think it is a Nice Tribute knowing he took Barrett's spot in Floyd. A must Have for a Syd or Early Floyd Fan! There were only 1000 made!
