Reviews
- Wonderful record, but is it really their best?
I'd say 'Join Inn', which once again features Klaus Schulze, is their finest album, but 'Schwingungen' certainly runs it close.
All five of their albums are excellent, I recommend them to anyone exploring the wonderful world of 1970's Cosmic Krautrock ! - Check also George Lewis: homage to Charlie Parker, don't mind the genre restrictions, but listen to the sounds of Richard Teitelbaum's electronics especially and music on that recording is also high quality.
- Edited 9 years agoA great pity. Some excellent music and mood is totally ruined by the cacophonous bellowings of dreadful vocals.
- Edited 20 years ago"Schwingungen" is Ash Ra Tempel's masterpiece, an immortal record of stunning beauty. All the different styles of the krautrock genre seem to be gathered on the three long tracks of this LP. "Look At Your Sun" and "Liebe" are dreaming and melancholic ballads, while "Flowers Must Die" is a crazy, paranoid tribal chant, where the voice reaches allucinatory and screamed tones, and the music melts an unstoppable rhythmic section with razor-sharped electronic blasts. Finally, "Suche" explores deep cosmic scenarios which recall Tangerine's Dream "Alpha Centaury". A very unique listening experience which I recommend to everyone.
