- On a recent show Peterson was playing a couple of tracks from the LP. Sublime music which needs to see the light of day.
- I definitely agree that this album needs a top tier remastering and pressing from the original analog tapes. This is a brilliant recording showcasing the leading edge song styling from the technicolor artistry of Tuca and company and it would be wrong to let this music just disappear. I was lucky to find a copy with a modest about of surface noise, even with the occasional clicks and pops Tuca’s performance kept me engaged. So how does it sound? At near field lower volume levels my system didn’t show off the vibrancy of this album. The way my system played it seemed as if all of the vocals were pushed forward and the numerous instruments, including synths, horns and string sections were played in a different room. Once I turned up the volume this distance corrected itself and the sound seemed to open up. I wonder if others have had a similar experience? I imagine it might be the case that this version of “Drácula I Love You” just has a sound picture that is a snapshot of a moment in time and I’m okay with that. But I also can’t help fantasizing about what a fresh take on mastering a new all analog reissue would sound like. Hmmm!!
- there MIGHT exist a 1973 french LP version of this album. i've spoken to Jeannette Prioli, the person who created the concept of Dracula I Love You and also has written 4 of the tracks. she designed the original album cover, censored by the brazilian government (check the Tuca fan page on Facebook, it's been posted there) and told me that Tuca told her the "vinyl looked gorgeous". Jeannette is not sure, however, if Tuca did see the vinyl itself or only the layout. let's keep that in mind.
