Reviews
- Edited one month agoI purchased this "Anniversary" reissue after reading many positive reviews but, if I compare it with the Japanese one from 1974 that I already had( https://www.discogs.com/release/15784599-Pink-Floyd-%E3%83%94%E3%83%B3%E3%82%AF%E3%83%95%E3%83%AD%E3%82%A4%E3%83%89-The-Dark-Side-Of-The-Moon-%E7%8B%82%E6%B0%97) the comparison doesn't hold up... money down the drain, the Japanese wins on practically all fronts
Addition: I would like to point out that what is written is not the absolute truth but only my opinion regarding the comparison between the two vinyls I own - Edited 12 days agoI pitted my 50th anniversary today against my UK Harvest A3/B2 and while the A3/B2’s clarity, top end shimmer and scale outshone the 50th, it was still actually better than I expected. Its mastered and cut quieter compared to most versions (no doubt for dynamics) has all the weight and punch in the low end, with very good definition and decent separation overall. The only other negative is that the highs can at times, sound a little processed, but I’m nit picking here. It’s a very well mastered version that I really enjoyed to the point that I’m making this my go-to copy.
The quality of the packaging is excellent for the money and the hype sticker is colourful and easily identifies this edition. The 180g vinyl was near silent, perfectly centred and spun flat and I like the replicated vintage labels. The record itself is housed in a poly lined anti-static sleeve, which is a welcome change to the awful and abrasive paper sleeves found in most major label releases nowadays.
The 50th Anniversary is worth buying while prices are still reasonable. From a bang for your buck perspective, it’s great value for money and I’m happy to recommend it,. - Since I only have an okay copy from 1973, I first thought I maybe should get the 2016 remaster, but after reading so much good about the 50th anniversary remaster i bought this one.
It didn‘t disappoint. Great clean pressing with very good sound. - Great release for a very reasonable price, sounds better than most vinyl released in this day & age so for anyone looking to buy this album then this release is a very safe option. Great packaging too with two nice posters which is always a nice addition.
- Edited 2 months agoExcellent pressing. Ofc it is digitally remastered but it is good sounding and a great choice if you are on a small budget. The texture of the sleeve is epic. Vinyl itself seems to be top quality as well.
- Sounds absolutely amazing! Love the sound, Love the cover, I love everything about this LP! And it's really cheap for the quality and awesome sound you get.
- Edited 3 months agomy copy is crackly in places despite being brand new and since they started remastering it there seems to be a weird click track sounding click in the track on the run which wasn't there originally. ive heard this 2023 remaster and the 2016 version and both have it. its annoying
- Good bang for buck. Plenty of bass, stereo image is good, S-sounds can be a tad harsh though, even with a microlinear stylus. Soundstage is good. NOT a warm-sounding pressing, can sound a bit analytical on some systems. Overall, a good purchase for 23€.
- Great sounding remaster, bass sounds nice, left to right panning is fabulous, not the best quality pressing out there, but perfect for casual listening.
- Terrible. One of the most important tracks on the album, "Time", suffers from severe sibilance. The first alarm bell and the very first vocal line: "Ticking away the moments that make up the dull day", the "s" in "moments" is very harsh. Surprisingly, the rest of the album is OK.
