Reviews
- Edited 2 years agoThis is a wonderful collection of jazz duo dialogues on six lesser known but beautiful pieces, deftly interpreted by two masters of their instruments. Communication is the key here and there is much listening abound.
The recording is clean but not particularly lively for either instrument, IMO. Hall's tone is typically dark and woody on the ES175, however this could have benefited from some high frequency emphasis on his articulation. The piano is also EQ'd rather mellow, a lost opportunity to achieve some contrast between the two instruments.
Pressing is very good with no issues at all. Super sturdy, minimalist gatefold sleeve.
4 stars. Recommended.
