Reviews
- Edited 2 days agoAnyone else's come with a skip/loop at the very start of Tourette's? Exchanging mine shortly, other than that it's a great sounding version of this classic.
- I prefer this to the 2013 mix with the black cover. The 2013 mix is more bass-heavy and maybe compressed; this one sounds thinner and more biting, the way I remember it from back in the day. The original mix did not need tweaking. The tracks on the 10" are all good, not throwaways.
- You think there's Unlimited supply!?Better think again- it's been sold out on official site for days already.Plenty on stock in stores worldwide of course, but still..
What I like about this one is that people actually appreciate and do listen to it;makes so much more sense than to squat on a sealed copy and speculate on who knows what.Be here now.
- So glad I picked this up. Sounds amazing. The bonus ten inch is great. The gatefold is beautiful. Very pleased with it.
- I gotta admit that I may have been too harsh on this when comparing it to my '93 clear vinyl over the last few weeks.Bob Weston did a very good remaster that keeps growing on you. What strikes me is the overall tonal balance, which gives every instrument some space to thrive and breathe. This may be most flagrant,as others already pointed out, with the bass guitar- you can follow Novoselic's chords rather effortlessly, which is a nice treat on its own.
Pressing by czech based GZ Media is congenial to the mastering;flat, clean and quiet between songs. The ten inch is also immaculate and sounds gorgeous.
This is a beautifully and proficiently manufactured package adequately priced. For the music lover it's a highly recommended, for the Nirvana adept a must have. - Edited 12 days agoVery impress! Great quality in pack, printing and press of this release. I have the Back To Black edition, and this broke the mold! Great stereo and great wide soundstage. The 10' is a great complement. The vinyl comes in a poliline sleeve to both disc, and great tip on jacket.
- Edited 16 days agoI gave this a listen to and found the sound-quality impressive. I still prefer the sound of the '93 European issue (from Holland), particularly on the first side, but for those looking for a quality issue of Nirvana's swansong, In Utero, this one more than delivers. I have the 3LP 20th anniversary pressing on vinyl as well. That issue's DMM transfer makes for a listening experience some prefer (wider soundstage) but this newest issue offers the album through a new set of ears so to speak. I recommend it, and imagine as the months go on, it'll go down in price a bit. At the moment, the less polished for radio, Steve Albini original cut still sells cheaper than this one (on the Back to Black label). The 10" EP that accompanies this new release sounds good too, although I don't care for much of it, musically. The jacket over all looks great, but the tiny, uninspired font on the spine lacks the original art/design of previous versions. A little thing, but a disappointment with respect to the packaging.
- the best pressing i’ve heard. my copy was flat and played perfectly right outta the sleeve with only a static brush swipe. it’s really nice to finally have a near perfect pressing of my favorite Nirvana album. turn it up!!
