- I'm glad to have this, but until we get a AAA pressing we are all settling for less than. This should have been a deluxe AAA box set.
- Pretty decent pressing. Mine is very clean, crisp, and clear. Great stereo separation. Sounds pretty solid overall to me.
- Amazing pressing. Did they ever say how many pressed? I could see this now being the 2nd rarest copy, it's so odd seeing this album on the shelf at the local record store now. Truly strange times we're living in🤘
- Edited one year agoMine sounds great and is clean. Sound stage is big…tons of instrument separation. Can’t go wrong with Chris Bellman or Ted Jensen. Some people are saying this is a digital source. If it is they did an amazing job. I have a mid grade system and it is very revealing. This is a fantastic job. My blue/red marble sounds nice and quiet. Not a tick or pop and black background. Bass kicks, very dynamic. Don’t drink the water explodes when it starts. Wow!
- Edited one year agoMy copy arrived without the hype sticker shown in the photo above. I think it sounds really good. The bass seems to stand out to me for some reason, which is great. Some light surface noise between tracks that I'm hoping will clean up with a wet clean before the next spin. No complaints here. Sounds full and plenty loud. Glad I never spent stupid money for an original. I'm guessing Chris Bellman could have made this version sound even better than the original, even without the master tapes. Could also be wrong since I've never heard an original. Glad to finally have a copy of this gem!
- Edited one year agoThis album was recorded to tape. Supposedly, the master tape is lost. Hence why we have this reissue. It has not been remastered, not was it even mastered for vinyl. I'm glad to have it as a hole filled, but it could be so much more. Perhaps they can go back to the multi tracks and remix it in analog and in that way we could get a true analog remaster and remix. As it, it is just,ok. Ok is not what this great album deserves. Maybe the master tapes will be found.
- Edited one year agoSeems good, not great. The lacquer cut seems well done and no surface noise. If we believe the credits on this page, then it’s easy to conclude this is the same master as 1998, rather than starting over like they did with Crash. Hopefully what we have is something like a 24-192 pressing. I’d put this at the same level as UTTAD, and far below Crash. But it is what it is. If it was recorded digitally, then that’s what we have. I’m still glad to have it after all of these years.
Edit - I just did a little test. I compared my 1998 CD (ripped by EAC, direct USB-A xfer on JRiver to Mcintosh C49 and its DAC) and compared that to the new record. Because the audio level is dramatically different between the cd rip and the vinyl, I could not level them on the Mcintosh easily. So I used my amp switch and listened to teh vinyl on a 1971 Marantz 2245. I would say the Mc has the advantage here. Comparing the two, flipping back and forth, I can definitely say the vinyl is better than the 98 cd. But it's not really separation or imaging, it's depth. The music is just deeper and fuller. It's not a huge difference, but the vinyl is better. So hooray for that.
Second edit - to the person that replied to me, I didn’t say that UTTAD and BTCS were from the same process, I said they are about the same quality. The fact that Table was remastered doesn’t automatically make it better than a record that wasn’t. - Amazing pressing of an amazing album! I never thought I would get this one in my collection. Now bring on Everyday, Stand Up and Busted Stuff! 😎
