I agree with the overall reception to this CD. I’m a fan of this guy but the CD felt rushed.
His RA mix is far superior.

I agree with the last 2 comments; I am a jackmaster fan but this is very poorly conceived. I know he plays loads of styles but in the space of 80mins it really is too much, it's messy and some of the transitions although in time sound horrendous. It's as if he choose the tracks and just smashed them together with no thought about how they would work together. The 'pussy ride' over Aphex Twin ruins the AFX track, which is awesome by the way. This could have been an outstanding and timeless mix but he got it so wrong in my humble opinion. Don't take it to heart though Jackmaster, we all know you can smash it live.

I've seen this guy DJ and he can definately spin. I've got issues with the flow of the mix. Even the transition between the first and second track is clunky. Disappointing really ..

This is mostly a throwback house mix filled with classics from the likes of Juan Atkins, Armand van Helden, Anthony Shakir, and Larry Heard, and others. Jackmaster carves his own unique niche in the compilation series, opting to use tried and true songs from the 80s and early 90s. It's a fun and memorable listen with clear and unabashed connections to Detroit, Chicago, and hell, even New York.

Then why 4 stars? The second half is awful. Too much Splack Pack and it gets very noisy, brash, and annoying. It's way too bombastic. The brilliant first half is kind of ruined when you go through Skepta's grime track mixed into Aphex Twin, "Scrub Da Ground" mixed into Jupiter Jazz (destroying the effect of both songs), and then there's cheesy stuff like "Pussy Ride". Lastly, Radiohead comes out of nowhere. The flow is really poor, and there's way too many obvious stuff in there that doesn't fit together.

probably my fave Fabriclive CD to date, something for everyone on here, especially for those that have been listening to electronic music from the early 80's.
