Reviews
- Edited 7 months agoWhen would be the right time to listen to frozen music -- when it's ten degrees below zero outside, or when it's warm? It might be we should paraphrase -- music is never intended to be listened to being cold. MWA's work is a soul-warming accomplishment with macro-scale rhythms pounding on drum and bass littered frequencies though one can also hear rougher jungle-y lumps and bare dub and techno slices; on the other hand, as the counterpoint, atmospheric threads prevail in the upper layers; one track contains the croaking of crows, the other hypnotic human voices, reminiscent of a Curd Duca's work at the beginning of the 00s. There are not too many sound effects but they have been applied effectively. The opening track is the exception altogether as its rhythmless, brooding atmospherics can be taken as a tribute to the great Angelo Badalamenti. All in all, it's atmospheric drum and bass, which is probably not meant for the dance floor but to occupy a slot inside cerebral profundity. It is also more suitable to get performed at NYYD music stages. This kind of music can be called deep.
