It’s clear that Tom Paxton is at his best live and this album was a recognition of that. Much of his approach didn’t come over well on studio produced albums and this recording provided him with an audience to interact with and perform his new songs to at the Marquee Club in London. It has some great songs on it and remains one of his best albums in my opinion. They did the same trick with the ‘Complete Tom Paxton’ double album to great effect too using live performances of his greatest hits. There are two studio recordings to cap off the album. Interesting to hear Ralph McTell in a supporting role on guitar and noting it is a Tony Visconti production.
