Slowly but steadily, Thom Yorke is repeating himself more and more musically. I've been a fan for many years, but this time he didn't catch me..
..too much mainstream...sorry..- Edited one month agoOne could have summarized the whole, confusing jumble of
'The Smile' in a small 10" with the following tracks:
1. INSTANT PSALM (early)
2. THE SAME
3. YOU WILL NEVER WORK IN THE TELEVISION AGAIN
4. READ THE ROOM
5. YOU KNOW ME!
6. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS
7. SPEECH BUBBLES
Then it would have been something!
For me this is not the best Radiohead side project! 
Was looking forward to this album just to hear a lot of sand-papery sounds on Side A first song. I was so disappointed I haven’t even heard it since. It sucked that the Blue version was all that there was available with my local record shops. And my store had a no return policy so I have a nice looking record that I can’t play because I get so upset.- I just purchased the blue vinyl this week and I'm extremely happy with the quality. It seems that buying new vinyl is a real crap shoot.
Just an absolutely gorgeous album that sounds great from start to finish. I miss Radiohead but if The Smile keeps putting out music like this I'll be fine.
Minor non-fill in two places on side B that is not bothersome to me because it only happens for one rotation in each instance. Goods sound for a colored vinyl pressing. Nice touch with the reflective gold text on the front cover too. Giving it 4.5 stars.
I've had 3 copies of this particular pressing returned to my shop for various QC issues with the pressing.
As many others have mentioned, a bunch of cracklings and pops, mostly on side A. Twas a newer copy (I assume), but still got quite a few of those issues. Bummer.
Edited 8 months agoI’m absolutely obsessed with this album! I bought this pressing prior to buying the normal black pressing, but I lucked out and both sound great. I would say that there is VERY faint and occasional crackle that I’ll notice with headphones for both, but otherwise, they sound gorgeous. :)
Sound quality seems better on side B vs side A for my copy. Side A has fuzzy moments and a tolerable amount of surface noise. Side B is dead quiet with great dynamics. Maybe I just need to clean it another time. I’m pleased overall, and the music itself is magnificent.
