Debut vinyl issue, includes the bonus track “The Spectrum” that only appeared on the first 1000 copies of the CD, and comes in a dazzling gatefold jacket. Remastered for vinyl by Mike Milchner of Sonic Vision, and pressed in red and yellow “plasma” vinyl!
As one lyric on here goes "Nothing's wrong, but it's just not right." With a running time of 48 minutes, this album is just a smidge above what you're supposed to fit on a single LP. The heavier tracks like "Suckerface" and "Fiction" don't sound quite as good as on digital. The quieter tracks sound fine, though. With an MSRP of $40 they should have done this as 2x LPs at 45RPM to really make sure it sounded its best.
For now, keep dreaming of this album in digital (pun intended) if you want the best overall sound quality.
Wow. Blown away sounds amazing on my system. Plays flat. Dynamic. Bass kicks. Best way to enjoy this blast from the past. Protective inner sleeve is a nice touch. Well done all involved!!!
People that are saying that it's a bad remaster or the sound quality is bad...are you saying that because it doesn't sound like the CD? It's not supposed to. That's what "remastered FOR VINYL" means. It's going to be quieter, it's going to be less flashy and bright sounding than the brickwalled CD. I enjoyed listening to this on vinyl. I've had the CD since it first came out and I prefer the vinyl version and found nothing "flat" about the sound. The bass is nice and fat when it needs to be, bass drum thumps and synth bass is nice and smooth. The highs are a tad subdued but that's to be expected with a nice, warm "remastered for vinyl" sound.
Muddy, low, flat sound. At first I thought something happened to my setup - checked all my connection, cleaned everything, next step was going to be to replace my cartridge. Then I read that others are having the same issue - clearly this was a terrible remaster. Disappointed at the quality of this.
Wish it sounded better. Also mastered poorly. Had to turn the system WAY up . There is nothing definitive about this release other than being on vinyl finally.
I was excited to finally have this on vinyl but am pretty disappointed to be honest. Very muddy, compressed, and lacks dynamic overall. When 'Suckerface' kicks in, it's pretty lifeless. I A/B'd it to the CD, which hits you in the face, it's punchy, and vibrant; one of the rare occasions that I'd rather listen to the CD to the vinyl. $36 for a single LP and there are no inserts, just an unnecessary gatefold.
